This is the first Fossil’s Wear OS smartwatch with LTE connectivity that has gone through all the processes and was approved by the FCC. Apparently, it will be another common Gen 5 model and not Gen 6, not such a brilliant marketing move.

The image below is two months old, so Fossil’s LTE plans probably have been in motion for quite some time, however, it is a little bit upsetting that Fossil has not been working on Gen 6 models.

The FCC docs point to support for LTE bands 2, 4, 12, 13. NFC will be onboard for mobile payments and close-range communications. It will be powered by a Snapdragon Wear 4100, which appears unlikely, as we believe this new model is the same that went through Bluetooth SIG back in July, thought to be running the old Wear 3100.

CES is coming up, rest for sure we’ll hear news from this new watch pretty soon.
