After merging OnePlus with Oppo the company began to lose its identity. The swan song might be the release of the OnePlus 10 Pro, which is extremely similar to the OnePlus 9T Pro. There is not much difference between the devices. The design was refreshed, a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 was installed and they increased the fast charging power to 80W.

Perhaps the company will be rehabilitated with the release of the OnePlus 10 Ultra, the device it’s announced for the second half of this year. Some images were discovered online as patent images of a OnePlus smartphone. Visually, it is very similar to the OnePlus 10 Pro, but, one of the three sensors is periscopic in the main camera, with a small additional display.

It is only a patent and there is no certainty that the company will release the device, however, if such a smartphone is destined to come out, then it may well be called OnePlus 10 Ultra.

During the last few years, OnePlus built a reputation for flagship smartphones at a cost-effective price. OnePlus smartphones have grown in price over time, equaling this indicator with flagship products from other manufacturers, but it seems that the brand intends to return to its roots.

It is rumored that OnePlus is working on a new series of smartphones whose main features will be high performance and gaming-oriented, as well as an affordable price. Reports point out that smartphones of the new series in China will cost from USD 350 to USD 500. As a rule of thumb, the cost of smartphones in other countries is higher; but it is unlikely that the prices of new products will reach the level of other flagships.

These reports say that the smartphones of the new series will be running based on flagship chipsets and will receive flat displays. Potentially, these can be either the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 or MediaTek Dimensity 9000; or solutions from previous years, such as the Snapdragon 888, which is also very good for the cost.

To reduce the cost of new products, OnePlus will probably make several compromises; for example, cameras, moisture protection, support for wireless charging, or other minor functions. Currently, we don’t have more details about OnePlus’ new “flagship killers” however, they will probably start appearing soon.
