According to inside sources, even though rumors that the project was about to be terminated due to technical issues, Microsoft announced Surface Duo will still launch in markets outside the U.S. The device is getting ready to be released in Europe soon. Microsoft’s dual-screen mobile phone Surface Duo hit the road in August this year in the U.S. and it’s set to be sold outside the U.S early next year. Besides, it has been certified in Japan (Asia), the UK (Europe), and Canada.
Although the certification, it is still unclear whether Microsoft has plans to introduce this device to Japan or other Asian markets early next year. Microsoft Surface Duo will be available for the European market at least in early 2021 and only If the product meets both technical and commercial expectations, Microsoft will consider expanding its plans for more markets.
Microsoft Surface Duo impressed U.S. users with its interesting dual-screen design, powerful features, and impressive multitasking experience. The phone has its issue as reported by many users that they have encountered hardware problems, (they have been reported problems with hinges and charging ports).
Surface Duo is Microsoft’s first phone using an Android OS, with the two 5.6-inch screens it can be combined into a larger 8.1-inch display. It comes with Corning Gorilla Glass protection and fixes it together through a hinge, which is called the “revolutionary 360-degree hinge.”
Differentiating itself from Samsung’s folding screen phones, the Duo is only 4.8 mm thick unfolded, making it one of the thinnest mobile devices.
The Surface Duo will arrive with the Android 10 OS but it is promised to get soon the Android 11 update. However, there is no official information about the date of the release for the update.
