New ‘Memories’ Features in Google Photos

Google Photos is introducing new features into “Memories”, the feature inside the app that highlights past photos and videos, helping you remember the good times.

Following this update, Photos users will see a new featurette named “Cinematic Photos” which basically uses machine learning predicting an image’s depth and then produce a 3D representation of the scene the picture was taken. Once the algorithm makes all the calculations, Photos animates a virtual camera for a smooth panning effect.

Isn’t that exciting?.

Google has also introduced new collages, which started rolling out earlier this month. Users will also see new types of Memories with added imagery like sunsets, pictures of you cooking and jogging, as well as other activities based on what it is your photo library.

Expect to see all of this new stuff this month.
