Redmi finally stepped into the gaming segment with the amazing Redmi K40 Gaming Edition. It is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 1200 chipset. For now, the device is being sold exclusively in the Chinese market, its global debut will happen soon under a POCO F3 GT format. 

Lu Weibing, the head of the Redmi brand, revealed that more than 70% of the Redmi K40 Gaming Edition owners have the 12GB RAM variant. That is an extremely interesting fact considering that the phone is also available in variants with 6GB of RAM And 8GB of RAM. This means that most users do not consider the price differences. More than fifty percent of the Redmi K40 Gaming Edition buyers are going straight to the best possible variant. This isn’t a surprise, since always gamers will tend to choose the best hardware above everything. Lu Weibing used the post to ask its readers if they consider RAM and Storage when choosing a new smartphone.

The MediaTek Dimensity 1200 features one ARM Cortex-A78 clocked at 3GHz, three ARM Cortex-A78 cores clocked at up to 2.6GHz, and four ARM Cortex-A55 cores clocked at up to 2.2GHz. The chip has also has a very capable Mali-G77 with 9 cores. The device is available in four combos with 6GB of RAM + 128GB Storage, 8GB RAM + 128GB Storage, 8GB RAM + 256GB Storage, and 12GB RAM + 128GB storage. The 12GB option is the best possible RAM option, but it does not have the best storage option. So users are favoring more RAM over the 256GB storage that is available only with an 8GB RAM combo. The Redmi K40 Gaming Edition does not support a microSD card. So whatever storage it comes with is what you get.

The display is a 6.67-inch OLED with a 120Hz refresh rate and a centered punch hole. It has a 64MP main camera on the back and it is accompanied by an 8MP ultrawide angle camera, and a 2MP macro camera, while a 16MP snapper sits at the punch-hole. The device comes with stereo speakers with JBL tuning. For gaming experience, it comes with mechanical gaming triggers. The fingerprint sits on the side and the device also has NFC. The lights are kept with a 5,065mAh battery which offers support for 67W fast-charging.
