In the previous week, Qualcomm introduced the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 and the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1. Shortly after this announcement, several companies have begun disclosing their plans for Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 smartphones. It is already evident that the new Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 made by TSMC will be far more prevalent than its predecessors. We cannot list more than 10 smartphones with Snapdragon 888+ from the previous year, but it appears that the number of flagships with Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 will easily surpass this threshold. Xiaomi Redmi K50S Pro will utilize the new platform, following Realme and Asus.

Xiaomi has already revealed that its upcoming flagship smartphone will utilize the platform. Several smartphones are rumored to include this processor. Today, however, a new leak was released online pointing to the Redmi K50S Pro’s chipset. Apparently, the new smartphone will be known as K50S Pro on the Chinese market and Xiaomi 12T Pro in international markets. The Xiaomi 12 Ultra, Xiaomi 12S Pro, Xiaomi 12S, and the Mi MIX Fold 2 also include this processor. Except for the Redmi K50S Pro, however, none of these devices will be released other than in the Chinese market.

THE XIAOMI 12T PRO WILL BE THE ONLY SNAPDRAGON 8+ GEN 1-POWERED XIAOMI SMARTPHONE FOR GLOBAL MARKETS

Qualcomm has officially announced that the first smartphones utilizing the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 and Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 Platforms would be released in the second quarter of 2022. The release of the Oppo Reno 8 series with the latest Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 has already occurred. And the first 8+ Gen 1 smartphones could debut within the next month. Therefore, the Redmi K50S Pro will be available shortly.

Xiaomi claims that the Snapdragon 8+ offers a “genuine experience innovation” rather than a conventional half-generation improvement. The new SoC is manufactured by a different company. It increases performance by 10 percent with slightly increased clock speeds. However, the most significant improvement is a 30% boost in energy efficiency. Reportedly, the heating difficulties that plagued its predecessor have been resolved in the latest revision. Therefore, we can anticipate a substantial upgrade with the new flagships.
