An IP (ingress protection) rating is given to devices that withstand an amount of dust and/or water. As an example, Samsung’s latest phones have IP68 ratings, and they provide optimal protection against water. Unfortunately, Samsung’s previous foldable models did not have a good IP and it was a big no-no for a USD 2,000 device.
We do not know yet the rating that this series will get but something is better than nothing. Even IP65, which is essentially splash protection, could go a long way in making buyers feel more secure with their devices. Hopefully, this IP rating won’t lead to a price increase.
