Setting Up a VPN with Google One

One is probably the best deal going for keeping all of your documents, photos, and data securely stored in one place. However, not everyone can guarantee that the network you are using to access your data is secure. For that reason, it is highly recommended to have a good VPN (or virtual private network).

For subscribers of 2TB, it is built-in in the services.

Being that said and on a personal level, to use Google VPN services is kind of “letting the cat watch the milk”, when someone uses a VPN is for privacy and not traceability and I don't trust Google on that.

Anyway, we'll show you where to locate this feature and how to set up a Google One VPN on your device.

Here's how to do it:

  1. Open the Google One app.
  2. Navigate to the Home tab.
  3. Tap on Enable VPN.
  4. Tap on the toggle to turn on your Google One VPN.
  5. Tap on the Benefits tab to connect with Google advisers for tips and guidance on how to use your VPN and improve your account security.

As we said above it is currently only available for Google One subscribers of the 2TB level. For other top-tier users of Google One, it costs $9.99 per month. It includes access to Google experts and the option to add up to five family members, 10% back on Google Store purchases, and additional partner benefits like discounts on travel and hotels.

The cheaper paid tiers do not include the VPN service, and not as many discounts or benefits as the 2TB plan. Of course, if you don't want to pay for the top-tier Google One service, there are many other VPNs choices to consider, all with different features and prices.
