Last year’s global sales were good for Xiaomi. The Chinese manufacturer managed to gain a strong foothold as the third-largest smartphone manufacturer. Now wants to raise its share in the segment of premium devices. They have planned a series of flagships starting from the upcoming Xiaomi 12 Ultra, which seems to be a good flagship smartphone for this year.
The device features the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ chip, created by TSMC., which will surpass the “regular” version, with improved energy efficiency.
The most outstanding feature of the Xiaomi 12 Ultra will be its camera with a periscope module, offering a 5x optical zoom. It is quite natural that such a flagship will not be cheap. The expected price in China will be USD 950 and at Global markets, the price tag for it can be at least USD 1000.
A few weeks ago, Xiaomi hinted of the imminent release of a super-flagship codenamed Big Cup XL; under which Xiaomi 12 Ultra should be hiding.
The abbreviation of names is welcomed since some top Xiaomi and Redmi models’ names are too long. For example, Mi 10 Extreme Commemorative Edition or Redmi K40 Game Enhanced Edition. By which btw the successor of the latest leaked information now appears to be the Redmi K50 Gaming.
The abbreviation of the designations does not affect the characteristics in any way. Xiaomi 12U will still offer maximum performance and photo opportunities. Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC will power the platform; and there will be at least four modules in the main camera, one of which will provide 5x optical zoom.
