ZTE is returning to the US market. The company brought to the world the remarkable ZTE Axon 10 5G which was probably the first 5G smartphone to launch internationally, then they surprise us in 2020. By releasing the world’s first smartphone with an in-display camera.

This ground-breaking technology came in the shape of the ZTE Axon 20. Though the technology had some difficulties at the beginning, it was a bold step forward for those consumers who’d like to have a screen without cutouts. Now, the company is preparing to release the ZTE Axon 30 to the market and it is set to come with the second generation of its technology.

Last April, ZTE  unveiled the ZTE Axon 30 Pro and ZTE Axon 30 Ultra. None of these devices got in-display cameras. We think the company is holding back its technology for the successor of  Axon 20’s sequel that will arrive in the shape of ZTE Axon 30.

Rumors have been leaking with details and ZTE decided to confirm the device’s launch for July 27. Before the release, we’ve got our hands-on videos of the Axon 30 revealing its bezel-less display and the second-gen in-display camera solution.

The first video shows the smartphone’s front and rear design. It gives us special attention to the hidden camera module. There is a quick comparison to the ZTE Axon 20 allowing us to notice the progress made in terms of display sharpness. We can notice this in the area in the area above the camera which is rumored to include a 16 MP camera setup. The display comes from Visionox delivering 400ppi for the area above the camera. That is twice the amount of its predecessor. The video also reveals a couple of selfies samples, but, they are not that impressive in terms of sharpness and quality.

The leaked video also confirms that the device will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 SoC and 256 GB of Internal Storage. We’ve noticed the presence of a flagship-level SoC in this handset. The display will have 2,460 x 1,080 pixels of resolution which means Full HD+.

The second video reveals a few of the devices’ camera capabilities. The handset has four shooters on the back with the main one coming in at 64 MP resolution. Details from the main shooter look sharp and having the whole screen is certainly a huge factor that makes this device appealing.

According to leaks, the ZTE Axon 30 will run MyOS 11 on top of Android 11. The device will have at least one variant with 12 GB of RAM. The device is shaping to be a flagship way above the last year’s Axon 20 which was a premium mid-range smartphone.
